Manatee Paddle offers lessons, rentals, and tours. We happened across a special offer for Paddle to the Pub and at a bargain friendly $10 we just couldn’t resist. The tour departed from Hunter Springs at 4:00pm and included an hour long paddle before turning in our boards and heading to the pub. Please note that this tour is acceptable for all ages as the trip to the pub is optional. The excursion starts out with a quick tutorial on the proper way to ride your board. Next you just pick a board and hop on.
On this particular trip it was a little windy which made steering a little difficult but the guides gave me great instruction and I was on my way in no time. Balancing on the boards is relatively easy and if you are having trouble you can always choose to sit. We did have one paddler that just couldn’t get the hang of it and they ended up in the water twice. Good news is that the water is a constant 72 degrees and the guides where quick to respond and get our wayward paddler back on her board. The very best part of this trip was looking down in the water and next to my board was a manatee! I really was shocked to see how big they are up close and personal.
Manatee Paddle also offers group rates and long term rentals. Walk-ins are always welcome but reservations are recommended if you are bringing a group. They are also authorized retailers of Suplove, Boga, and Imagine paddle boards so you are in the market for a new or used board make sure to give them a call.
